UrHiP Guests’ Tips & Tricks
Welcome to the August edition of the UrHiP newsletter. We’ve entered the last month of Summer, but there is still so much to enjoy here in the City of Brotherly Love.
Philadelphia may not have any beaches, but everything you need to enjoy yourself is right here.
Enjoy the food and activities located around the city and cool off at night in one of our air conditioned rooms. If you’re staying with us at our University City homes you can even take a dip in the pool!
If you’re looking for the insider scoop of what activities and restaurants to try, let us, your friends at UrHiP, help!
This week’s newsletter features the oldest Italian restaurant in America. This traditional Italian restaurant is the real deal. If you’re looking for authentic South Philly food, look no further.
As far as entertainment goes, check out this stylish mural park that just opened up on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Located directly across the street from the iconic art museum, this park is a sight to behold.
We here at UrHiP aim to make Philly your “home away from home”. These are our suggestions for making Philly the ultimate Summer getaway.
Good Food – Ralph’s Italian Restaurant
Open since 1900, there’s a reason Ralph’s Italian Restaurant is the oldest Italian restaurant in the country. That reason is amazing food in an authentic setting.
The proud winner of 7 Best of Philly Awards and 10 Reader’s Choice Awards, Ralph’s may be the best Italian dish you eat on the East coast.
This Philly staple is located in South Philly and is a must EAT attraction for any Italian food lover visiting Philly.
Our personal menu favorite is the Chicken Parmigiana. This massive meal includes hand-breaded chicken and a choice of sides between fresh seasonal vegetables or their homemade pasta.
It’s so good that we may need to stop by tonight after writing this.

Fun Entertainment – The Oval+
Want a place to enjoy the last month Summer sun? Check out this pop up park that just opened in Eakins Oval.
From now until August 19th, the Oval+ will be home to a ton of free activities and it’s located in one of Philly’s most iconic locations. This uniquely-styled mural park is truly a beautiful sight to behold.
Open Wednesdays through Sundays, this seasonal park features a new extended pedestrian promenade that runs almost half the length of the Parkway. If you’re trying to stay cool, check out the 800-square-foot misting pavilion and enjoy cold drinks in a tree-shaded beer garden. If you’re hungry, grab a bite to eat from one of the many food trucks present.
Free events include yoga and kickboxing classes, movie nights, DJ dance parties, and much much more!
